Large potatoes must be cut so they do not get stuck. I press the potato almost all the way and they finish with the top part, otherwise the top part tends to bend the potato. I use it for carrots too and it works great. The grid is very sharp so be careful.

Uniform cuts, no excuses, no mess. Highly recommended for everyone, but particularly for those singles or couples living in apartments, dorm rooms, etc..
